I really like the background on this image. The colors and the drips have a wonderful eerie feeling about them in contrast with the excited kids. It's almost creepy, like at any moment an evil clown is going to slowly rise up behind them with fangs coming out of his big red smile.

I find that creepy or edgy stuff interesting and I think it's hard to pull off. Your Sorry illustration had a hint of it, too. Sorry and Cake are my favorite illustrations from your blog. All of your illustrations are wonderul - you have a great style.

Hey Kim. Returnin' the visit from IlloFri... I love your work too. How do you get the neat textures across your stuff. Is it digital or hand-made?

Thanks everyone!

Rob - It is all done with good ol fashion paint on paper. The textures are from wetting the paper and then adding the paint in dabs so that it fans out - one of my favourite effects of watercolour/gouache. Thanks for asking!

Hi Kim! Thanks for the nice comment! I see you've been blogging a few months now - I really like your stuff, especially the "Sea" and "Sorry." What an awesome community of support for newbies and starting-again-at-fortybies like me!
