Clean plate! Well, with a little help.
I was talking to a friend recently about how I was scarred as a child and will never ever ever in my life be able to eat brussel sprouts. Everything else I eschewed as a child I have slowly been able to find a taste for... broccoli... spinach (which I now love)... cabbage.... but brussel sprouts still make me gag like a five year old. I wish I had had a dog to feed them to! My cat didn't like them either.
Still playing around with different line qualities and techniques. this time I tried breaking up the black line a bit and only putting it where it is necessary, to make it feel a bit lighter...

Me, I like brussel sprouts and I love this illo. So cute.
Cute! Like the technique too...
Some things will never taste good. I'm with you on the brussels sprouts. This is fun and she looks so pleased with herself. Let's hope her pet finds the sprouts less disgusting!
Just love this! Her expression is priceless. . .she might be sorry later when the dog gets. . .well. . .gas. . .
lovely!!! I love her express. what a cute:)
very cute
haha! i really like it! excellent and the idea is too!
great face on the kid, love your illo.
:))
I like the effect of breaking up the black line. It not only makes the painting lighter; it also gives it a nice sketchy look. I love the colors and that delighted, proud look on her face. It's so cute. Don't worry about the brussels sprouts. Now that you're all grown up, you don't even have to put them on your plate!
this is so darling! i love the painterly quality, the looseness in the background too!
My grandmother always makes a big deal out of the 'Clean Plate Club' when you eat at her house...no matter your age. Grandmas are good for that! :) I love the color, expression, line quality - everything...this is a real treat!
I'll let you in on a secret: dogs hate them too. They were never meant to be eaten. :-)
Cute illo!
lol brussle sprouts YUK!!! when i was small ii thought they were lil cabbages. i stuck one in my mouth and it came out faster then it went in and nvr has another passed my lips. i can sure feel for this lil kid. great idea as usual
your illo is wonderful! I totally hate brussel sprouts so I can relate!
this is great, i love the dog's teeth and her expression. and i love spinach so much, i put it in everything i eat!
this is great illo!! i love brussel sprouts!
I love brussel sprouts, I gave my peas to my dog. now I love peas good thing cause i have a cat and she'll only eat cat food. wonderful illo, soooo cute!
How cute and sweet! She's even piled up some books on top of the chair to sit on!
I looooooove brussel sprouts and I looooove this illo :-)
The broken lines totally make the image lighter. It's quite a dramatic difference. If you hadn't pointed out the line work, I would have 'felt' the difference, but I wouldn't have known what the difference was. In other news, I aquired a taste for broccoli, spinach, and brussel sprouts since my childhood, but cabbage - blech. :)
Your technique worked well. What a brilliant solution. It's one of those "I wish I had thought of that" illustrations. I love it!
The handy dandy doggy sucker upper - I need one of those for under my son's chair - really fun illustration :)
It's easy to like anything as long as you have a dog under the table. I like brussels sprouts, as long as they have a had a frost on them because that's what makes them sweet.
Cute illustration!
very nice ! i like her big smile !
I like how she's sitting on a stack of books. Your technique is working nicely!
Well done, Kim. :)
What a fun idea, and I love the green colors!
