I-F: Stir

Japan has been shaken and stirred this week. I almost can't quite come to terms with what is happening there. It seems like something out of a hollywood movie with insane special effects - tsunamis 30m high, destruction far and wide, nuclear meltdown. Hugs of the biggest and warmest kind to them.

This is a piece I did to donate to Illustrators Australia's auction with 100% of money going to Japan. (the kanji characters in the right hand corner say 'for Japan'. I hope I got that right!) The auction is currently being set up, so stay tuned for more details as they come to hand.

Other ways to help out:
Art for Japan
comment at Karen Andrews' blog to up her donation
buy one of Alicia's prints
buy one of Kathy Hare's prints

It feels good to at least be doing something.

ripple cards

I bought a few cards from Kelly Light's Ripple project and they have arrived!

this fun one from the talented Karen Erasmus who happens to live just around the corner (in global terms)

and this beautiful card by Emily Cole (no link)

Kelly has raised $7,400 so far to benefit animal victims of the Gulf oil spill. Way to go Kelly! that's a helluvalotta $10 cards!

Ripple

Here is my contribution to Kelly's Light's Ripple - where every donated artcard is sold for $10, with the money donated to help the terrible oil spill in the Gulf.

It is number 423 on the blog. **sold.

Thank you Kelly for helping us all to do something positive, no matter how far away we live!

Taking it easy....

I must admit that I have done no illustrations for two weeks now....!

So here's another little sneak peak from the book series that I just finished, called Healthy Bodies, published by Five Mile Press and due out in August. This book, set mostly in a supermarket, ended up being the most challenging but also my most favouritest book of the four...

so instead of illustrating I've spent some time at the beach, where I found lots of cloud shapes...

and sand shapes....

and water shapes...

We went down for a friend's wedding which was just magical...

and where I had the opportunity to wear these lovely earrings which I purchased through the etsy bushfire appeal store, where all proceeds go to the survivors of the bushfires:

it was a lovely time had by all....

hope yours has been lovely too...

Orphan Works Bill

OK, I think most of us who frequent the bloggy community have heard about the orphan works bill by now. Just a reminder if you haven't already to please take action! It's really easy.

you can sign a petition here
if you are a US citizen click here
if you are internationally inclined click here

please act now! it is easy and quick!

*edit: due to things like this as well as many stories about art being stolen over the internet, I have decided to post my images at a lower resolution and to start watermarking them (the ones that matter anyway!) I hate to have to do this but it's probably better to be safe than sorry you know?
