9x5

Every year, Illustrators Australia has an exhibition called the 9x5, where each member is sent a piece of wood (that is 9" x 5") in the mail to paint, decorate, deface, etc., and then they are auctioned off. This is the first year I'm participating, and the theme is Connected.

here is my piece, acrylics and ink on wood.

and I must give credit where credit is due, the idea for this came totally and completely from my hubby. Thanks, A!

lovely illustration!! it has such a sense of peace and tranquillity...
men divide our beautiful land into petty personal properties...but this free lil bird seems to be above all that... watching with a bemused detachment, at man's foolishness...

kim, you have such a lovely poetic style!thanx so much for the inspiration!
and all the very best in your search for your new home-studio! :o)

Wow, this is a different style for you. It would make a lovely book cover, or journal cover design. It's lovely.

Oh Lil Kim this is soo beautiful. Its wonderful to look at. Look at that fence going on an on!!...And the bird starding there by himself, I find it very poetic. I'm sure this one will sell so fast at the auction. Good Luck!! :o)

Lovely composition, perfect for the topic, I like the way you left the wood for the sky, really ties in the wooden fence poles.I'm sure it'll fly at the auction.
