IF : Modify

At the moment, I'm modifying my painting techniques. Experimenting, trying new things, new media. I've had this Chinese Watercolour Techniques book for ages that I've been wanting to try. They make it look so easy! I'm trying to use watercolours more intensely - it's easy to let them get all washed out and I prefer the really bright, deep colours.

My poor chook looks a bit worse for wear here, but I had fun with this anyway...

This is gorgeous, those aggressive brush strokes suggest that it might be a fighting rooster :)

A beautiful rooster. Add some Chinese character or words and it's ready to hang it up on the wall.

I think he's beautiful!! I love watercolors, and have been tempted to dabble in Chinese watercolor techniques but have yet to do so... you may just have inspired me.

:-)

How lovely - chooks are favourites of mine! Good use of the watercolour too!

I think it looks great, Kim, very loose and strong. I like how the colors blend and how the simple strokes convey the rooster's body and mood.

I think your chook looks quite regal in all his fine colours. And his yummy watercolour edges. Oooh that sounds like fun, playing with techniques. That's what I need to do, find a great book and give some new ones a whirl. Thanks for the inspiration. : )
