Out with the old, in with the new

The crickets have been chirping on this blog lately, mostly because I have been away. But I'm back now and in full swing, so here is a little update of some exciting things:

Before I went away, I was very happy to be a part of the Premier's Reading Challenge campaign "Read every Day". A beautiful wall frieze was created with 7 panels, one for each day of the week. Each illustrator did one panel, so this illustration of mine

was featured with amazing illustrations from heavyweights Anna Pignataro (her illustration below), Ann JamesAnne SpudvilasJudy WatsonMark WilsonJane Tanner and Andrew McLean. It was distributed to schools around Victoria so it's wonderful to think that lots of kids around the block will be looking at my lil illustration. Woo!

....

In other news my long time online critique group The Creative Cup has disbanded, but in it's place I'll be part of a new Australian illustrator collective that is just starting up. More on that soon!

....

and in still other news I am now working on a lovely little book which will be out next year. It is a bit of a dream project I have to say. I can't say much on it yet, except that so far it has involved a tarzaning giraffe and a penguin in an Elvis costume. In other words..... FUN!!! Watch this space for more news on that.

Thanks for checking in, and I hope you are all well out there enjoying the Autumn sunshine or the Spring daffodils, depending on where you are.

I absolutely love your treehouse illustration. How wonderful to be a part of that. And that 'dream project' sounds fantastic. Looking forward to hearing more!

A lovely illustration Kim, congratulations! The 'dream project' sounds interesting, as does the illustrators' collective. I'll stay tuned...
