I-F: Impatience

I think these parents are getting a bit impatient with their chicks!

Thank you to everyone for your nice comments on my previous post about experimenting with new watercolour techniques - it really encouraged me to try more!

I actually did the monkeys (below) first, following the book, then muscle memory from my one calligraphy class years ago took over and I had an urge to do brush painting again.

I love painting with ink - it is so fluid, and so black.

fun!

Thanks guys! I really had fun with them, especially the chickens.

Amy C - I can't actually write Chinese characters - I'm a total wannabe! I am just copying what was in the book - very badly! Although the characters in the chicken painting are actually my name (Ki-mu) that I learned in my calligraphy class.

Thanks for stopping by. I LOVE your brushwork. Those chicks are just so cute and the work overall has so much personality. (my grandmother studied Chinese watercolor for years and gave me a book her instructor wrote. It is a fun technique.)

I especially love the black and red style of the chickens, the whole piece works really well too.
